A Grandmaster Plays a Beginner | Chess Mastery Explained
In this video, I play a fifteen-minute game on Chess.com against a player rated approximately 1200, talking through each of my moves and explaining both my opponent's mistakes as well as the strategies that led me to a swift and crushing victory.
- Follow Daniel on Twitter at GMNaroditsky
- Daniel streams regularly on Twitch at twitch.tv/GMNaroditsky
daniel only have 2600 rating because he kicks his router 5/10 games
1200 is beginner? * cries in 800 *
I've been getting chess recommendations because of that king sacrifice meme. I'm getting sucked back into this game lol.
This was amazingly useful. You're very articulate Daniel and it really helps while you're explaining the theory and reasoning behind your moves. I've only been learning for a month or so but I'm struggling to break 1000. The info about the pin on the queen with the bishop was exactly contradictory to how I'd been playing : I'd been looking at the queen as a way to retake the bsihop if he took the knight, so as not to break my pawn structure. I would always have left the pin. I'll be watching more of your videos. Thanks for making them !
good explanations. nice vid
He explains his opponents mistakes very humbly and kindly, not arrogant or insulting in anyway. He also makes it simple and straightforward enough for lower levels to understand. Very glad to have found this channel!
Now I know how to play Ruy Lopez
Daniel Naroditsky: Chess Grandmaster. Also Daniel Naroditsky: I've certainly lost a lot of games by knocking out the connection to the router with my feet. (06:00)
Yeah nah I see plenty of so called game masters but they are just good at remembering and repeating information, they are not what would have been considered a game master a century ago. These versions of "game masters" are a very watered down version and there is no wondering why we are currently destine to be pets to Ai :p
This dude just had no idea, poor feller
Doug "Chest Master" Demuro
watched the entire video and sub
Explained with crystal clarity. Thank you.
You explained very nice Daniel, thanks 🏌️♂️
brutality, love a good forking
His voice kinda reminds me of Hades from Hercules. But damnnn
A beginner is 1200? Whoa.... I got a long way to go.................
Good video. There's more here about chess in 18 minutes than in the whole of the Queen's Gambit. Although a good show, it didn't really talk about chess. Playing and winning at chess is treated pretty much as a magical process; she has so much talent it's unfathomable how she does it, she's a natural. Except she's been a drug addict since the age of 7 or so and a drunk.
Yeah... This is probably the most helpful chess video I have ever watched
i want to play you if possible
I wanna learn how to play chess as a kid I always thought it was a beautiful game but had to go with checkers as it was like chess in a way... but in REALITY chess kills checkers in every way. Anyways if any book or online HRclubs I would appreciate it so much thanks.
Holy crap I actually understood everything. Thank you so much
Thank you very much for taking the time to explain it. It's very informative and helpful.
“I must crush you.” (Ivan Drago).
Not me wanting to learn chess because I watched the queens gambit 😐✋
Great video. Very helpful for me a beginner. Hopefully you have more of these on your channel. I’ll check it out
Awesome vid
If you're here after watching Queen's gambit, you're not alone lol
If this guy ever gets a movie, Jake Gyllenhaal needs to play him
i don’t even play chess, it’s 3 AM
Can't believe Netflix brought me here. Nice video
Why didn't you take the queen with knight at 9:14??
the enemy knight was checking his king
Chess players always acuse checkers players of being stupid. But I like checkers. The blue one's are tasty.
Its like skipping all the level in the game, with only beginner gear and level 1 to fight the final boss. Brave? Yes but do you expect to win?
13:40 is it against a rule to castle under check? you said moving the king is not good because you cant castle after that but instead of moving the king you could castle and still escape check.
Good video, thanks. My takeaways: - Try to go for early pins with my bishops. - See in which diagonals my bishops have the most impact. - f2 is the weakest spot on the chess board. - If you can capture a piece, look if there's an even better chance. - If your opponent does an unconventional move, take your time and try to understand what he's up to. - I will subscribe to Daniel's channel now :) Regards, Stefan
great vid!
great vid, thanks a lot! Who else thinks that Queen's Gambit has ultrakindled general interest in chess and now chess vids are collecting millions of views because of this series?
What’s best app for iPhone to play a game of chess
Pls pronounce fianchetto in the right way lol: phy( like in physics) an cat to(as in top)
Somewhere in the world someone was playing chess online and thinking why a Grandmaster taking too much time to think.
Man! Make it look so easy... :)
Learning from the grandmasters 🙌
thanks for the commentary. only thing i was taught in chess is to control the middle 4 squares as much as possible. your line of thinking really opened up my eyes to see past those 4 squares. thanks again
7:10 GOODBYE to that bishop.
Chess Mastery? I finished the queens Bandit, I know the secret now, take pills and visualise the game on a ceiling boom Grandmastery level unlocked🔓
7:11 when the vatican gets a new pope
Aaaaaaaaaahhhhh .
Good video. It shows how a good understanding of development leads to a favorable position and one error leads to a win.
Thanks- this is really instructive
So basically he's *smurfing*
This is the most helpful video I've seen on chess for beginners.
@daniel, why cant 13:23 also be queen to e7?
Very useful and helpful video. Thanks
Maybe add more advertisements, i just got 10, thanks
Him saying 1200 is beginner-intermediate: Me being 450 and hoping to get that far 😂
this dude sounds like john mulaney
Ohh man! Just started playing chess and loved this video!! I don’t understand -yet- why the chess.com computer opponent flags BLUNDER for moves that look fine to me. This video made a penny drop!
wow you have a talent of explaining in easy terms. thank you!
Thanks Daniel, but I can't see any value in your showing us a game where your opponent throws away a piece with no compensation, and at such an early stage? I think that even I could have won this game.
Is it possible to be become a GM with chess being a hobby instead of full-time job?
This is probably one of the best videos for beginners I have seen. Thanks.
I'm 30 years old and interested in learning chess.
At 10:10, could he have just moved his queen forward to F4 causing a checkmate?
This is helpful, first video I’ve ever watched about chess lol this extremely interesting.
Thanks for this video Daniel it's very helpful as you talked through and explained all moves.
thanks, the way you explain your thoughtprocess is amazing and easy to understand
At 15:37 he says he is going to take white's knight on f3 with his bishop or knight. Then the pawn would take back. He can take again with another piece, but it would only be then captured by white's queen. Why would he trade one of those pieces for just damaging the pawn structure? That's not usually worth it right? Or am I missing something?
There are two types of sacrifices: correct ones, and mine - Tal hrclubs.info/get/video/Y6SOm9dvr6vdzNg
He is 10 level worst than you, this is worthless watching, wish i would be white figures 😉
Thank u that was a great video
Hahaha the way he casually but intensely was like "say goodBYE to that bishop"
I’ve never seen this guy before but I’ve heard his name a million times from all my replays of the xqc six move loss video
It's almost like they havent even watched "The Queens Gambit"!?!
This Vid is 18mins longer than I Expected....
"a bit of an enigmatic move" lmao 7:31
don't kid yourself, you're here because of queens gambit
@Maniceanu Mihaela Alecsia haha Netflix is stalking both of us
finished the show yday and i found this on my recommended 😳
Daniel, as a teenager I started playing chess but pretty much quit after high school. Now that I'm retired I decided to start again, rusty to say the least. I love these games and puzzles where you explain your thought process, something that I've forgotten how to do and struggle with now since I'm not as sharp as I once was. After watching a few of these thought process videos, my chess.com puzzle rating has gone up @ 300 points. Keep up the good work.
Spanish chess players love the word "profilaxis" because here it is mainly used to mean "putting a condom on"
Great content
whos here after The Queen's Gambit ;)
plot twist, he loses hahahaah
I am stupid - Charles leclerc and me
This came up in my recommendation and I definitely subscribed. Such a helpful video for absolute beginners! I’m new to all this and it was explained so clearly and very digestible too.
8:23 knight d4 would have been the best move or? Nvm: you made that move sorry lol
I watched the Queen's Gambit once on Netflix now my phone thinks I love chess and it is correct.
Incredible. So simple. Those mistakes were easy to make.
Can I please be your next bad example
Have you ever played aganist someone who is 'beginner' online but you gound out is seasoned IRL chess player?
Basically bullying noobs
At 16:35 after moving your rook, you could have had checkmate in 2 moves instead 3 by moving your queen one to the right, then diagonal to the front left taking his pawn.
Kh3 stops it
A GM commentating a low level game is sooooo informative. Do you have series of this type of content. I Went on a win streak from 750 to 800 after this video. This is great stuff!
i have watched this video at least twice a month for the last four months lmao, great lesson!
I’ve never played chess before and had no idea there was so much to it
7:11 proper intimidating
For me as the beginner it was very helpful! Thank you!
The orange mine mostly mine because crawdad comprehensively tick out a giant trumpet. freezing, cute pelican
